IPC awarded at NOT 2009, Utrecht, The Netherlands

The IPC has won an award at the Netherlands Education Exhibition (NOT) in Utrecht. The curriculum was nominated in the teaching materials and methods category. The IPC is a progressive teaching method for sciences (including history, geography and environmental sciences) and arts subjects (including drawing and crafts).

The teaching approach was developed for primary schools wanting to teach children more effectively. At present, it is the only curriculum in Dutch primary education in which the subject of internationalisation is taught in practice, because it integrated international learning targets for the children.

Pieter de Kool of IPC Netherlands says: ‘In due course, we want every child in the Netherlands to have a chance to learn arts and science subjects still better. This first prize certainly helps us to highlight the most enjoyable teaching and learning methods still more frequently. Through the IPC approach, both teachers and pupils find that learning is more effective and very enjoyable, certainly if you compare it with the present traditional teaching methods for science subjects. We achieve this by presenting the subject matter in a way that appropriate to the 21st Century.’
