NInety different thematic units of work on such stimulating, modern-day topics as Treasure, the Rainforest, Mission to Mars and Beyond, Chocolate, Fit for Life, The Olympics and Making the News span from early years through to early secondary education.
The IPC units of work incorporate the foundation subjects and science while enabling links to Literacy and Numeracy. Each unit provides subject specific work across the whole curriculum.
Looking at the Chocolate unit for example as a learning platform, there was a great deal of purposeful investigation, there was independent as well as a significant amount of collaborative work and we were also making learning connections with other IPC units we’d previously worked on. The children were completely engaged because they were having so much fun learning through a subject that they found exciting. It was good to have a concentrated amount of time to spend on the unit because it meant the children got totally absorbed in their learning resulted in plenty of evidence of deeper understanding and skill development.
